Barcode Generator and Label Printer

Create Code 128 or EAN-13 barcodes for your products and print them on A4 label sheets or a label printer.

Many products? Paste a list

When the list has lines, it replaces the single product above.

Enter a code to see the barcode.

Barcodes are made in your browser. Nothing is uploaded. Print a test page on plain paper first and hold it against your label sheet to check alignment.

Making your own item codes

For products without a manufacturer barcode, use Code 128 with a short, structured code, such as RICE-SM-5KG or SH-BLK-42 for a black shoe in size 42. Keep codes unique, avoid spaces, and use the same code in your billing software so a scan finds the right item.

When you need a real EAN-13

If you make or pack products that will be sold by other shops, supermarkets or online marketplaces, buy barcodes from GS1 India. GS1 issues the company prefix that makes your EAN-13 numbers globally unique. This tool can draw an EAN-13 for any number and adds the check digit, but it doesn't register the number for you.

Printing tips

  • A4 sheets work with any laser or inkjet printer. Choose the sheet that matches your label stock, print at 100% scale (no "fit to page"), and test on plain paper first.
  • For a label printer (thermal or thermal-transfer), choose the roll size and set the same paper size in the printer settings.
  • Keep the quiet zone (white space) on both sides of the barcode, and don't stretch it.
  • Scan a printed label with your billing scanner before printing hundreds.

Then scan to bill

Once your items carry barcodes, use them at the counter. In VelBooks barcode billing, you enter the same code on each item, and a scan adds the item, price and GST to the bill and reduces stock.

Frequently asked questions

Is this barcode generator free?
Yes. It runs in your browser, with no signup and no watermark. Nothing you type is uploaded.
Can I use these barcodes in my shop?
Yes. Code 128 labels with your own item codes work with any standard barcode scanner and billing software that lets you enter a barcode for each item.
Do I need GS1 registration for barcodes?
Only if others will scan your codes, for example supermarkets or marketplaces selling your products. For barcodes used only inside your own shop, you can make your own codes.
What label size should I use?
38 × 25 mm or 50 × 25 mm suits most products on a label printer. On A4, 65-label sheets suit small items and 21 or 24-label sheets leave room for the product name and price.
How do I generate a barcode bill?
Give every item a barcode (the maker's EAN-13 or your own Code 128 label), enter the same code against the item in your billing software, and scan at checkout. See barcode billing.
