Running a supermarket on billing software: practical tips
Set up the item master first
Most packaged products already carry a manufacturer EAN-13 barcode, so scanning them while adding items is the fastest way to build your item list. For loose items, create your own codes and print shelf or bag labels with our free barcode generator, or keep a laminated barcode card at the counter.
Check GST rates after GST 2.0
From 22 September 2025, many grocery and FMCG items moved to lower slabs: biscuits, chocolates, ice cream and coffee to 5%, butter, ghee and cheese to 5%, soaps, shampoo and toothpaste to 5%, and pre-packaged paneer, UHT milk and Indian breads to nil. Count by category, every week
