The commercial product page for tables, KOT and aggregator billing is restaurant billing software. This article is the comparison layer: how to shortlist, what "best" actually means for your format, and published prices with sources.
Shortlist by restaurant type
There is no single best restaurant billing software. A 12-table vegetarian hotel, a filter-coffee café and a cloud kitchen need different defaults.

What "best" must include for Indian restaurants
- Table management and KOT so the kitchen gets the ticket when the order is taken, not when the guest asks for the bill.
- Counter, takeaway and parcel on the same item list.
- Swiggy and Zomato orders into the POS without retyping (tax on restaurant service through e-commerce operators is paid by the platform under section 9(5) — see CBIC Circular 167/23/2021).
- UPI QR, cash, card and split payments, with WhatsApp bills when guests ask.
- Offline billing with sync for the hour the Wi-Fi drops during dinner.
- Clear day-end reports by payment mode and counter.
- Hardware that fits India: Android tablet or phone plus an 80 mm or 58 mm thermal printer; cash drawer optional.
If a demo cannot show those on your own menu, keep looking.

VelBooks POS (our product): who it is for
VelBooks POS is an add-on to a VelBooks plan (Basic ₹299, Gold ₹499, Elite ₹799 per month + GST). It is built for Indian restaurants, cafés, hotels that serve food, QSRs and bakeries that need:
- Table management and KOT
- Swiggy and Zomato order intake
- UPI QR, card, cash and split payments
- WhatsApp bills and cash drawer
- Offline billing that syncs later
- Multiple counters and branches
- Android tablet or phone (no separate Windows POS claim)
POS add-on pricing is still a contact quote (POS add-on pricing: contact us / WhatsApp for current price). The VelBooks web app (billing, inventory, online store, returns) needs internet; only the POS counter add-on is confirmed to work offline.

Other options, briefly and fairly
Zoho POS for Restaurants
Clear published plan ladder and a free tier with KOT and offline for small turnover. Swiggy/Zomato and multi-outlet start at paid plans; full dine-in waiter workflows sit in Signature+. Good if you already live in Zoho and want transparent SaaS pricing.
Petpooja
The brand most Indian owners associate with restaurant POS. Strong for specialist restaurant workflows and add-ons (captain app, KDS, QR ordering). Public pricing is plan labels without a clear INR list price on the POSS page we checked — get a written quote for your outlet count and add-ons.
OrderSeva and Restrofi
Budget-visible restaurant POS with flat or per-outlet published prices. Useful shortlist entries for single outlets that want a low annual or monthly number on the website. Verify KOT, offline and aggregator depth on a live demo before you decide on price alone.
Restroworks (Posist) and Gofrugal
Common shortlist for chains that need central control. Expect a custom quote and a longer implementation. Overkill for a single 10-table hotel.
How to choose in one afternoon
- Rush test: bill 20 mixed orders (dine-in, takeaway, parcel) in about 10 minutes on the trial.
- Offline test: pull the internet, punch five bills, reconnect and confirm they sync.
- GST on a sample bill: check 5% without ITC vs 18% specified premises with your CA before go-live.
- Aggregator test: confirm a Swiggy/Zomato order lands without retyping (section 9(5) tax is paid by the platform on restaurant service).
- All-in cost: software + POS add-on + per-counter fees + tablet + 80 mm printer + cash drawer.
- Day-end: cash, UPI and card totals must match what you counted in the drawer.
